Greenpeace - non-violent, creative confrontation to expose global environmental issues
Greenpeace is an independent, campaigning organisation which uses non-violent, creative confrontation to expose global environmental issues. Greenpeace's ships and volunteers travel to remote areas to expose global environmental problems. Their scientific, legal and political units research the solutions for a green and peaceful future, and lobby for policy change.

Renewable energy - from wind, waves and sun - is affordable, safe and clean and the UK has some of the best renewable energy resources in Europe.

As one of the windiest countries in Europe, the UK is ideally situated to use wind power as a viable source of renewable energy.

The European Commission has called for solar power to be installed on half a million roofs by 2010 stimulating demand for manufacturing, leading to a market worth some 10 billion dollars, creating 100,000 new jobs.

Climate change, caused by global warming, is the biggest environmental problem we face today. Climate change is killing people - as fires, droughts, storms and floods destroy homes and local infrastructures, spread diseases such as malaria and cholera, and wreak havoc on entire communities.

Greenpeace active supporters help to deliver Greenpeace campaigns, raising awareness, funds and support using really diverse methods. Through activities such as writing to your local MP, helping out at Glastonbury or participating in non-violent direct actions like closing down Esso petrol stations as part of the Stop Esso campaign, you could Get Active with Greenpeace and help to make a real difference.
