"Googol" is the mathematical term for a 1 followed by 100 zeros. It's a very large number. Google is a company with a very large number of users, and a laser-like focus on finding the right answer for each and every one of them more than 200 million times a day.
Google's search facility has long been the choice of savvy web users. Google's commitment to 'pure search' has been the envy of global search engines since the site first appeared on the web in 1998.
The Googleplex, Google's current headquarters in Mountain View, California is continuing to grow - attracting staff and clients and drawing attention from users and the press. AOL/Netscape selected Google as its web search service and helped push traffic levels past 3 million searches per day. Google had evolved from a college research project into a real company offering a service that was in great demand.
Unlike many of it's peers Google is yet to float on the stock market, and despite speculation it has so far remained true to it's pure search goals using only the minimum of advertising and only of it's own sourcing.
